the big day: ashley + walter • costa rica style
as promised, part deux of ashley and walter's awesome costa rican wedding!

meet walter, the groom.

the ladies. i love that the guests were in on the color scheme!

ashley, the lovely bride.

the guys.

the ceremony was held on the HOT, but gorgeous beach in manuel antionio park.

ashley's dad is had a tilt shift that he let us play with. : ) thanks jeff!

i love these two!

the cutest flower girl in all of costa rica!

the officiant / good buddy of the groom.

ashley and walter like to mix it up a bit. these are the most fun "formals" that we have ever shot!

we caught the sunset on the beach and then headed back to the villa.

then the parrrrr- tay began! wigs, delicious food, karaoke, great toasts, swimming, what else could a girl ask for?

family: smiths + snow = fun!
we were so excited when amy smith contacted us to shoot her family portraits. amy is an amazing photographer from florida. i must admit i am an avid blog stalker of hers. : )
she and her family met us up in the chilly mountains of burnesville, nc for a photo session. mel and i were a bit worried about the cold temperatures. with the wind chill the temperature was a blustery 17 degrees and there was no snow to speak of, but these florida folks really toughed it out!

no snow....who says....we brought our own. : ) let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

whee!

i love these cheeks!

daddy's girl.

i absolutely love both of these photos! i can't decide which one i would make into a giant canvas...the color or the black and white?

mamma and her girls.

photographers are always behind the lens, so we had to get lots of shots of amy! here are a few sweet shots of her and her hubby.

awwww. amy's girls are such sweeties.

yippee!

next time we meet up with amy, i hope it is in warm sunny florida!
kids: good times in ATL • atlanta childrens photographer
our wonderful, talented, and super organized studio manager, maureen, made melanie and i shake in our boots this summer when she told us that her family was moving to atlanta for her husband's job. we love maureen and honestly, i do not think we could live with out her! so we put our heads together and decided that she could be our remote studio manager. the arrangement has been working out perfectly! and now, whitebox is expanding into the atlanta market. we made one trip down last fall for a few shoots and we are planning a several atlanta sessions for 2009. here are some of my favorite shots from maureen's family session on our first trip to ATL. (thanks for waiting so patiently for these maureen!)
cabbage town is such a great section of ATL to shoot family portraits! (thanks to kellie byrom for giving us the heads up!) to get properly motivated for our shoot we gobbled down some delicious cupcakes from sweet pockets. is it a delicious little bakery at jake's. jake's is an awesome ice cream and sandwich shop. then we were off to capture some fun urban shots.

jack

part two of our atlanta family session took place on the chatahoochee river.
the first few are a little bit different for whitebox. not our usually super-smiley, silly, kids being kids shots.

this one of jack reminded me of the u2 war album cover. what do you think?

the happy family. maureen is a great stylist too! i love all of the clothes that she put together for the shoot. it is quite a feat to coordinate for 5 people!

some good momma lovin'.

cowgirl katherine

and a big thanks to maureen's husband, brad, for chauffeuring everyone down the river in the kayak!
the big day: jennifer + sean • greenville sc
we met jen at her house to start the day

jen had this awesome old jukebox radio. it was the perfect place to shoot the rings since jen + sean are huge music lovers

so sweet

i'm a little teapot

i love this

greenville is a really cool town so it only makes sense that they would have an awesome venue like this

and who was their band?? acoustic syndicate! sweet!

peace out!
personal: christmas tree time!
i know i just posted pictures of eliza.....but i took some time off last week for the thanksgiving holiday, so i actually got to work on some of my personal photos for a change! one last eliza post and then it is back to business. : )
we have a family tradition of going to boone, nc to get our christmas tree the day after thanksgiving. i went to ASU, so i absolutely love going back to boone any chance i get.
we went to farmer brown's tree farm just outside of boone. it was so fun. eliza loves horses, so riding in a sleigh behind buck, the workhorse, was huge fun for her.
