Entries in duke gardens (4)
day after: nadeesha + tony
well, nadeesha + tony actually got married about 3 years ago but who's counting :) they had the awesome idea to get some more shots of just the two of them in their wedding clothes and we were happy to oblige. we didn't get to shoot their actual wedding, but this made up for it ;)

for all you photogs out there, we're lovin' all of the new tr2- the revenge actions!
i really love these next black and white ones, the light was amazing. they are some of my favorite pictures that i've taken lately. although, it certainly wasn't hard work with these two.... :) these would look so awesome as a grid of 4 huge prints!

thanks you guys- you were awesome!!! happy travels! mel
it is great to be 10!
christian turned 10 on the day of our shoot. don't worry, he had plans for a more festive celebration after the shoot!

i love his red hair and freckles!

happy birthday christian!
Weddings Unveiled Magazine
weddings unveiled is a gorgeous publication that features a lot of real weddings in north and south carolina. we were thrilled when unveiled wanted to feature raj and vineeta's traditional indian wedding in their magazine. the beautiful ceremony was at the Duke gardens in durham, nc and the reception followed at Washington duke inn and golf club. it was so wonderful to work with such an amazing couple and to experience the indian culture and ceremonies. the exquisite details and vibrant colors were a photographers dream! an added perk was the delicious food...yummy! we got to spend 4 days with raj and vineeta's family while covering the mendhi, the garba-raas, the ceremony and the reception. we felt like part of the family by the end of the reception!

the big day: vineeta + raj
we were super excited to shoot raj + vineeta's wedding since it was our first indian wedding! we are very grateful that they took a chance on us. we started with the mendhi on wednesday, the garba-raas on thursday and then the wedding on saturday. by the end of the weekend we pretty much felt like family! be prepared- this is going to be a mega-post!
i posted a few from the mendhi earlier, but here are a few more...

i really love this one

my favorite shot from the garba-raas. the garba is a big circle dance that the women perform and the raas is a dance with sticks, or "the dance of swords".

a few portraits on the wedding day

vineeta went to india for three weeks to choose all of the fabrics and jewelry for the wedding. she did an amazing job!

my favorite part of the day was the barat where raj's friends and family led him to the wedding in a sort of processional/party. the drummer was amazing and kept everyone dancing despite the heat. it really was the coolest thing ever!

when we reached the garden gates, everyone was greeted by vineeta's family and given drinks and indian sweets.
raj being welcomed by vineeta's dad
after a quick break we made our way into duke gardens and more dancing ensued
at the wisteria gazebo we were greeted by the women in vineeta's family who gave raj their blessing before going down to the ceremony
vineeta arriving with her aunt and uncle
love this shot!
yea! they're married!
one last shot of vineeta's shoes for the reception
thanks raj + vineeta! we really enjoyed getting to know you and your wonderful families, we wish you much success in san francisco!
